Conan’s Bugatti Veyron Was On Loan From the Museum

In case you weren’t anywhere near the Internet or television during the past two days, Conan O’Brien transformed a $1.5-million Bugatti Veyron into a huge, four-wheeled mouse on Wednesday’s Tonight Show. The bit was part of what he referred to as “[not] so much funny as crazy expensive”, an attempt to take one last dig at his network before leaving the stage.
Well, according to a report on Jalopnik, the Bugatti didn’t actually cost the network that much money as it was on loan from Petersen Automotive Museum. And given that the Bugatti was used on the now-infamous sketch, it’s now worth even more. The museum has moved it to its Hollywood wing.
On the other hand, it appears that NBC was on the hook for the original recording of the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” that Conan played during the bit. The network has pulled the segment out of the episode video on its website. Classic TV. [via Jalopnik]
