Citroën Metropolis Plug-In Hybrid Concept
By Chris Weiss
We tend not to follow the Euro-only market too closely on MotorCrave, but Citröen has a legacy of some pretty inspiring concepts that we’d be remiss to avoid. This one is called the Metropolis and it’s being prepped for the Shanghai World Fair. Created by Citröen’s international design team based in Shanghai, the concept is designed to pay homage to China’s extraordinary development–whatever the hell that has to do with a concept car.
The Metropolis features plug-in hybrid drivetrain with a two-liter 272-hp petrol V6 and a 70 kW electric motor. The latter provides zero-emissions driving at low speeds. The concept uses a seven-speed dual clutch and also features a four-wheel-drive mode.
An interesting feature on the car’s exterior is the Pearl Silk paint, which changes color to adjust to light conditions and maximize contrast, allowing the Metropolis’ curves and lines to pop no matter what time of day it is. [via WCF]
