2011 chevrolet volt Chevy Volt Will Sell In Low 30s Says GM CEO

In an interview with gm-volt.com, GM chairman and CEO Ed Whitacre, Jr. put an end to speculation on the car’s price, stating  that the much-anticipated Chevy Volt will be sold in the low 30′s when it hits the market later this year. He also stated that the Chevy will turn a profit on each and every Volt.

Poking a little fun at the idea that the Volt would be sold at a loss, and at GM while he was at it, Whitacre stated: “We’re not in business to lose money…We did enough of that already. [The Volt] is going to sell in the low 30s.  We’ll get a margin on that.”

Volt buyers will also be set to benefit from the $7500 federal tax credit. [via egmCarTech]

I have spent the past two, plus, years listening to the chorus of Naw Sayers about this and any other thing that allows us to move away from forign oil. This car is due. Its way overdue. A "Volt" should have been on our streets for years. We're no smarter now than in the 70's when the Arab's hit us with the embargo. That was our Shot Across The Bow, but we went right back to sleep just as soon as they started pumping again and raised the price to three times what we had been paying for decades. We could have done all this much sooner, but we have simply never gotten overly serious about getting down the street differently that we've been doing for the past 100 years. This time, change is being forced on us or it would not be happening now. For all you Naw Sayers…..please stand by….and get out of the way. Volt is coming and so are others.
