1960 Pininfarina X 001 One of a Kind 1960 Pininfarina X Concept for Sale

It’s pretty rare that you see the words “concept” and “for sale” in the same breadth. Usually, concepts wow the world for the duration of an auto show or two and then crawl back into their company garage and never mutter another word.

Imagine our delight to report, therefore, that this 1960′s Pininfarina X Concept, a retro-futuristic masterpiece with a little bullet nose and flaring rear-end, is up for sale. The concept looks a little like a streamliner mated with a circa-1950′s Cadillac, and it’s sheer awesome. It also features three wheels for an extra touch of rare coolness. Power comes from a 43-hp Fiat engine.

1937 BMW 328 Timeless Classic: BMW 328 Buegelfalte Sells for $5.6 Million

It may not be the most expensive car to ever update owners, but it’s worth a pretty penny. This one-off 1937 BMW 328 Mille Miglia ‘Buegelfalte’ recently captured a $5.6 million selling price at the RM Auction in Monaco on May 1. Not only did the buyer get a timeless piece of BMW mastery, he got quite a storied automobile. Changing hands several times after it raced in Le Mans in 1937, the roadster was once owned by a Third Reich minister and, later, the creator of the MiG fighter jet Artiom Ivanovich Mikoyan. In between, it was seized by the Russians after WWII.

We’re not sure that the new owner can show the 328 any intrigue it hasn’t seen already, but he’s got a pretty sweet showpiece. [via WCF]

moab 021 Classic Willys Jeeps Down in Moab

For our last post of the week, we extend today’s eye candy theme to lovers of jeeps, off-roaders and classic automobiles. I spotted these two shiny classics while I was in Moab for the Easter Jeep Safari last week and new that I’d have to post them here at Crave. Today was the perfect day.

The open-top model is a ’45 Willys Jeep. Willy-Overland produced this vehicle for the U.S. military WWII effort from 1941 to 1945 and then introduced it to the consumer market as the Willys CJ-2A in 1945.

Exquisite and Exceptionally Rare: 1970 Toyota 2000GT On Sale

Friday, December 11, 2009 8:00AM - By

Here’s one for the true automotive connoisseur. This rare, fully-restored 1970 Toyota 2000GT is one of only 351 models built between ’67 and ’71. The seminal sports car is looked upon as an ancestor of today’s Japanese supercars.

The 2000GT’s distinctive looks are enough for a hard sell–the extended, flowy curves and hood-mounted rear-view mirrors leave an instant impression. Power for the rear-wheel-drive coupe is derived from the Toyota Crown’s 2.0-liter, twin-cam six-cylinder. During production, the engine enjoyed heavy modification courtesy of Yamaha.

The example being sold is coming off of an extensive six-year restoration. No word on the exact price being sought, but we’re sure it’ll be worth it to whoever lays it down. Enjoy the full gallery after the jump. [via Carscoop]

Originally built to tackle Ferrari’s lead in the racing world, the Shelby Daytona Cobra is what famous Bob Bondurant drove more than 44 years ago when he snatched the World Manufacturers Championship from the Italians. That same car — the 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, chassis number CSX2601 — sold for a record-breaking $7.25 million at Mecum’s inaugural Monterey Auction a few days ago. That makes it the highest price to be paid at a public auction for an American car. Just by looking at it, we’re sure the happy buyer got his hands on a real monster. [via Luxist]
