Cash For Clunkers Ends Early This Coming Monday

Cash is a pretty integral part of the Cash for Clunkers program, so when it runs out, all you have is your horrid clunker staring at you into the indefinite future. In other words, drag that hunk of metal down to the dealership this weekend because the federal program is indeed running out of money (surprise, surprise) two months ahead of schedule. The program will officially end Monday at 5 p.m. PST, when dealerships will have to have all paperwork filed. While the program has resulted in over 457,000 vehicles sold, there have been some issues in getting the reimbursement out to dealerships and many have withdrawn as a result–only 7% of the nearly $2 billion requested by dealers has been reimbursed.
