Capstone CMT-380 Hybrid Features Jet Turbine Engine
The Capstone Turbine CMT-380 is the latest hybrid supercar being developed to offer discerning sports car drivers of the future a cleaner means of pursuing their passion. The hybrid is powered by a combination of lithium polymer batteries and an ultra-low emissions, range-extending microturbine engine that runs on diesel or biodiesel. It’s a combination that provides a claim of 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds, 150 mph top speed and 500 miles on a single tank of fuel. Of course, claims are always easy to make when your car is still a concept.
The car will get up to 80 miles of range driving in zero-emissions, electric mode, and when the batteries drain, the microturbine kicks in, recharging them and extending the range up to the 500-mile mark.
The CMT-380 will be on display at LA. [via Motor Authority]

Fantastic! Zero emissions at 80 miles. This is a positive contribution to the fight against the excessive use of carbon emissions. I am not necessarily a fan of the "muscle machine" as this is, however the excitement some consumers will experience is undeniable. The sports car features and economic savings combined with reduced emissions if certainly going to impact the market. I do like the color as in this picture. I also hear that the price when produced will be in the range of $200 – 300,000.00. I look forward to seeing the car!
Good on you!

I too enjoy the look of this vehicle. Though the pricing will certainly limit the production if it ever gets to the manufacturing line. The reduction in emissions is a positive aspect to the wonderful design of the sports vehicle. I like this gray color however I was fortunate to view an all black. This looked very stylish.
If the article is proven fact and the vehicle will obtain 500 miles to the gallon, then this car for all it sporty features and speed capabilities will be cost effective too. Lets wait and see!
