Cadillac Confirms Converj Concept is Headed for Production

Unveiled a year ago, the Cadillac Converj concept will see its way into production, as confirmed by Bob Lutz. The vehicle is based on the Chevy Volt and featured a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and 120 kW (161 hp) motor in its concept form. These are likely to get carried over to the production version. The motor puts out 273 lb-ft of torque. A 1.4-liter four cylinder will kick in once the Converj has driven past its 40-mile electric range.
Lutz didn’t confirm exactly when the Converj will be ready, giving a rough launch of 2013 or 2014 and stating: “You’ll see it when you see it. We have to slot it into the product lineup.” [via WCF]
