BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics 1 BMWs Beautiful Vision EfficientDynamics Concept to See Production in 2013

BMW debuted its Vision EfficientDynamics concept last year in Frankfurt and the world immediately fell in love with it. But surely a concept so bold and original would never meet production. According to a report on Inside Line, it will. And we can hardly wait.

The report cites a source confirming that the concept will hit production in 2013. While the exterior design will be toned down in the production version, the hybrid powertrain used in the concept will reportedly get the green light for production. The car will be limited to 5,000 to 10,000 units, as the report goes.

The Vision EfficientDynamics concept features a three-cylinder turbodiesel engine mated with two electric motors, which provide 356 hp and 590 lb-ft. The concept sails to 60 in 4.8 seconds and has an impressive fuel economy of 62.6 mpg. Our photos are still down, but you can see some pictures of the concept here.

We certainly hope this rumor holds true. [Inside Line via WCF]
