BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept
By Chris Weiss
Details on the striking BMW Vision EfficientDynamics have been revealed. The vehicle is a plug-in hybrid powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbodiesel, 98-cell lithium polymer battery pack, two electric motors–one per axle– and ActiveHybrid components. Together, the individual pieces of the new concept provide a combination of brawn and efficiency with a 0 to 62 mph time of 4.8 seconds and consumption around 62.6 mpg. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph. Overall system output for the vehicle is 356 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The engine/motor arrangement allows for all-wheel drive to be active in all-electric mode. BMW also spent time meticulously crafting the aerodynamic profile of the vehicle to limit drag. The Vision EfficientDynamics will be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show. [via AutoBlog]
