BMW Previews the 2011 Z4 sDrive35is
By Chris WeissNot the catchiest car name on the road, but a venerable BMW just the same, the Z4 sDrive35is is set for a Detroit debut and BMW has released the details on the new roadster in anticipation of the show.
The sDrive35is will sit atop the Z4 line and will boast a 335 hp engine that gets the full treatment–twin turbos and direct injection. Augmenting the engine’s capabilities, a new electronic overboost function temporarily adds 37 lb-ft to the sDrive35is’s usual 332 making for enhanced acceleration.
The new roadster will hit 60 in 4.7 seconds. Top speed is electronically-controlled at 155 mph.
The sDrive35is enjoys boosted performance without ceding any efficiency, maintaining the same numbers as the sDrive35i. Making this possible, EfficientDynamics technologies like brake energy regeneration and electric power steering are an integral part of the roadster.
Notable visual upgrades include the new M Sport upgrade package that comes standard, new front bumper and 18-inch, 5-spoke wheels. [via Motor Authority]
