BMW Makes the ActiveHybrid5 Official Following Leak

Well that was fast. We posted leaked pictures of the ActiveHybrid5 earlier this morning, and BMW has found it fit to deliver the rest of the story. The new concept introduces a new version of BMW’s hybrid system to the 5-series sedan, using a combination of a turbocharged straight-six and 40 kW electric motor–making it true to the rumors. BMW says that the hybrid powertrain delivers a 10 percent boost in efficiency. The ActiveHybrid5 is capable of all-electric city driving and includes technologies such as engine start-stop and regenerative braking. Hit continue for some new video. [via Inside Line]
