Best. News. Today. Porsche Considers 918 Spyder Production
By Chris Weiss
Sure we’d prefer to replace “considers” with “is moving 100 percent ahead with”, but it’s still great to hear that Porsche is giving thought to producing the 918 Spyder Concept that it debuted in Geneva. According to Autocar, Porsche’s CEO Michael Macht said that the positive reaction received from those in attendance at Geneva has inspired more serious consideration for production.
He explained in no uncertain terms: “There is no one inside Porsche who doesn’t want to build the 918. The response has been marvellous; we will ask buyers to sign letters of intent.”
One of the stars of the show, the new Porsche delivers brawn and beauty in a package that would give Porsche a distinct, cutting-edge supercar with gobs of power and performance. The concept features a hybrid powertrain with a 500 hp engine and electric motors totalling 718 hp.
We just hope this turns from rumor to report real quickly. [via Autocar]
