Audi Details the RS5
By Chris Weiss
Audi has released the details of its new RS5, which it will be showing to the world at the Geneva Motor Show. The sporty two-door is powered by a direct-injected 4.2-liter V8 worth 450 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. The engine is coupled to a dual-clutch seven-speed S tronic transmission. The RS5 is equipped with Quattro all-wheel drive using a new crown gear differential that can control and vary torque between the front and rear axles.
That powertrain pushes the RS5 to 62 in just 4.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically controlled at 155 mph, but owners wishing for a little more speed can opt to unlock it for a full 174 mph. That performance is delivered without excessive fuel consumption; Audi lists the RS5′s mileage at 21.78 mpg U.S.
After debuting in Geneva, the Audi RS5 will make its way to Europe in spring for a base of €77,000 (about $104,000). There’s currently no plans to bring it to the U.S. [via AutoBlog]
