Merc Grand Marquee As Mercury Exits, Lincoln to Get More Models, EcoBoost Engines

The rumors are true: Mercury is going to be wound down. Ford announced the move yesterday and explained that production will end in the fourth quarter of this year. In Mercury’s wake, Ford will be investing its resources into its other two brands Ford and Lincoln. Ford plans to enhance Lincoln with seven new or majorly overhauled models over the next four years in an attempt to better compete in the luxury segment. Lincoln will get its first ever C-segment model and will also enjoy the option of EcoBoost engines across its line.

“We have made tremendous progress on profitably growing the Ford brand during the past few years. Now, it is time to do the same for Lincoln,” said Mark Fields, Ford’s president of The Americas. “The new Lincoln vehicles will transform luxury for North American premium customers through an unexpected blend of responsive driving enjoyment and warm, inviting comfort. We will also offer our customers a world-class retail experience through a vibrant retail network.” [via egmCarTech]
