Antro Solo Electric Car Splits Into Two Smaller Cars

Hungary really isn’t the first place you’d expect to see any cutting edge automotive technology coming from. In fact, it’s closer to the very end of the list, so be cautious how much stock you put into this interesting four-wheeled contraption.
A Hungarian company called Antro has developed a hybrid car. That in itself would be cause for a raised eyebrow, but what’s really interesting here is that the three-seat Solo concept is designed to be joined with another Solo to create a six-passenger vehicle called…you know it–the Duo. So you’d be able to drive the family around in the Duo configuration and split it up when it’s just you and the wife.
The car operates on a hybrid powertrain and is powered in part by roof-mounted solar panels. It is capable of about a 20 km electric range. Given that it appears there’s a real lack of any hard details, it’s highly likely this will end as thoughtful vaportech, but it’s still a pretty cool idea. [via Autopia]
