Porsche ups its game with the Boxster Spyder, creating a sexy convertible that is slightly more spry and powerful than the Boxster S with a weight of just 2,811 pounds (176 pounds less than the S, making for the lightest Porsche on the road). The Spyder features a 3.4-liter six-cylinder with direct fuel injection that provides 320 hp, 10 extra ponies over the S. Paired with the 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission, you’re looking at 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.

Porsche also boasts that the Spyder can hit up to 166 mph with the top down. Unfortunately, that top is apparently not that easy to take down and required several reps to tackle on the LA show floor.

The 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder will be hitting dealers in February. Base price is$61,200. [via egmCarTech]
