Ready to hit the floor of Detroit, the new Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet is the successor to the CLK convertible. Mercedes has provided all the details on the upcoming rag-top, which will hit the market in May.

Beginning under the hood, the cab will get a pair of  engine options: a 3.5-liter 268 hp V6 or a 5.5-liter 382 hp V8. Torque is 258 and 391 lb-ft respectively.

Moving outside, the most notable feature of the convertible is the new AIRCAP, a wind deflector which extends from the windshield by 2.4 inches and works in conjunction with a draft stop between the rear seats. The new, push-button feature helps to boost passenger comfort and reduce noise so that all can enjoy the pleasure of the company inside the car. Mercedes’ modified AIRSCARF works to further comfort by heating the head and neck, making one forget about the crisp chill just overhead.

The E-Class makes use of a soft top that will detract in 20 seconds at speeds up to 25 mph. Imagine yourself inside one in the gallery below. [via AutoBlog]
