While the ActiveHybrid X6 will combine hybrid efficiency; CUV versatility; smooth, BMW looks; and plenty of power, it will also throw in one wrench: a near-$90K price tag. BMW has announced that the X6 will sticker in at $89,775. Sales will start later in the year.

For those that don’t mind coughing up that kind of money on a new car, the 2010 ActiveHybrid X6 is slated to be one of the most powerful hybrids available, deriving its status from a 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8. The engine is good for 400 hp and 450 lb-ft and two electric motors kick in 91 and 86 hp respectively. Taking all three power sources into account, the X6 delivers 480 horses and 575 lb-ft of peak torque, which translate to a 5.6-second 0 to 62 and 130 mph top speed.

The hybrid is also capable of running full electric at up to 37 mph. While it won’t be the most efficient hybrid out there, BMW claims efficiency gains of 20 percent. [via egmCarTech]
